Argyle High School Hires New Softball Coach
June 24, 2023
Argyle High School has hired Brianna Barnhill as the next Lady Eagle head softball coach.
Barnhill previously served as the Grapevine Lady Mustangs’ varsity assistant. The Lady Mustangs were 24-11 and reached the playoffs last season. Prior to her tenure at Grapevine, she coached at Williams High School and Plano East. At Williams High School, a 9th-10th grade campus in Plano ISD, she also held the Girls’ Athletic Coordinator position.
Barnhill is a former three-sport standout athlete at Northwest High School and was an all-conference softball player at Abilene Christian University.
"It is a great honor and privilege to be named head softball coach at Argyle High School,” Barnhill said. “I am looking forward to working with these talented athletes and building on the winning culture established here.”
Barnhill assumes the role previously held by Kevin Cook, who resigned after the 2022-2023 school year. The Lady Eagles reached the Class 5A Region I Quarterfinals last season.
“We are excited to have Coach Barnhill lead the Lady Eagle softball program,“ Assistant Athletics Director Chance Westmoreland said. “Coach Barnhill’s energy and enthusiasm will be a great asset to our program. She brings an incredible softball background as a decorated high school and collegiate player, and coach.”
Barnhill holds a Master of Science in Kinesiology Exercise Physiology from TCU and a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology - Health Promotion (Summa Cum Laude) from Abilene Christian University.
“My goal is to not only help each athlete grow their skill set on the field but also help them be successful in the classroom and develop the life skills necessary to confidently step into any role they choose after high school,” Barnhill said. “I am excited to start this journey together!”
