School Board Approves Resolution of Opposition to Business Park
April 5, 2022
The Argyle ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved a resolution opposing the Cross Timbers Business Park in Canyon Falls.
This action by the Board was taken during a Special Meeting on Monday, April 4. Argyle ISD will share the resolution with the developer Crow Holdings and the Flower Mound Town Council, which is reviewing the proposal application for a 263-acre tract adjacent to Argyle High School in Canyon Falls. Argyle ISD held a Town Hall meeting last week to allow the School Board and Superintendent Dr. Telena Wright to hear feedback from the community regarding the development. The meeting drew more than 150 community members and 40 speakers in opposition.
"One of the big words that keeps sticking out to this Board is incompatibility," School Board President Sam Slaton said during Monday’s meeting. "This project is incompatible with where our schools are and where it is within the community."
The resolution addresses the community's concerns regarding the business park including increased 18-wheeler traffic, air and noise pollution, safety on roads leading to school campuses and negative impact on property value. These concerns are shared by the district, which the resolution states. The proposed 10-building distribution warehouse park project is located on the northwest corner of FM 1171 and Highway 377.
During the Special Meeting, six individuals addressed the Trustees with similar concerns during public comments before the resolution was passed.
