Lady Eagles Headed Back to the State Tournament!

The Argyle Lady Eagles' basketball team is headed back to the UIL state tournament!

The No. 1 state-ranked Lady Eagles were crowned the Class 4A Region I champions after defeating District 7-4A rival Decatur 52-40 in the tournament title game. Senior guard Caroline Lyles was named the region tournament MVP and sophomore forward Samantha Bacon was chosen all-tournament.

The Lady Eagles earned a come-from-behind 34-32 victory in the regional semifinal against defending state champion Canyon.

Argyle (37-0) will face Hardin-Jefferson (33-4) in the 4A state semifinals at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Alamodome in San Antonio. The championship will be held Saturday at 7 p.m. 

Brownsboro (38-2) and Fredericksburg (36-3) will meet in the other semifinal at 4 p.m. Friday.

Argyle is making its 10 state tournament appearance and seeking its seventh state championship.
