During a special meeting on January 25, 2022 the Argyle ISD School Board unanimously approved a contract extension for Superintendent Dr. Telena Wright. 

The Board approved Dr. Wright's contract through June 30, 2025. Dr. Wright has served as AISD Superintendent since 2009 and has successfully established a legacy of success as the district boasts 11 UIL Lone Star Cup championships. This award is given to the most successful schools in each of these state's classifications based on academics, athletics and fine art.

"I appreciate the confidence the Board has shown in my leadership by extending my contract," Dr. Wright said. "The district has experienced many challenges in dealing with COVID-19 since early 2020. The Board has remained steadfast and supportive through these uncertain and challenging times." 

Under her leadership, Argyle ISD has passed voter-approved bond elections to manage student enrollment growth with the addition of a new high school and two new elementary schools. The newest campus, South Elementary, is scheduled to open in Canyon Falls in the fall of 2022. She has led the fast-growth planning as the district enrollment has surpassed 4,300 and more than 500 employees.
