Dr. Courtney Carpenter, Superintendent

Dr. Courtney Carpenter brings nearly 30 years of experience in public education and joined Argyle ISD as Superintendent of Schools in July 2023. A forward-thinking and collaborative leader, she continues guiding the district through unprecedented growth in southern Denton County while upholding Argyle ISD’s long-standing traditions of academic and extracurricular excellence, student opportunities, family engagement, and community involvement.

Since arriving in Argyle ISD, Dr. Carpenter has played a central role in navigating rapid enrollment growth and long-range planning. She led the district’s Collaborative Visioning for 2025–2030, developing a clear and actionable framework focused on Student Learning, Student Experience, Resource Stewardship, and Community Engagement. Her leadership reinforces thoughtful planning, strong systems, and well-defined priorities that support both students and staff.

Dr. Carpenter has also strengthened communication and transparency with staff, families, and the community through initiatives such as School Board Briefs, Board Walks at campuses, monthly Superintendent reports, and consistent engagement across all communication platforms.

In May 2025, she successfully guided Argyle ISD through a bond election that will provide critical infrastructure to support continued growth. The $423 million bond package includes future schools, land acquisition, capital improvements, transportation, technology upgrades, and a new baseball and softball complex at Argyle High School in Canyon Falls.

With a strong commitment to legislative advocacy, Dr. Carpenter has led efforts to strengthen relationships with legislators and promote public education—work that has supported families, students, and staff across the district.

Dr. Carpenter is experienced in leading fast-growing, high-performing districts and has held leadership roles at both the campus and district levels. Her expertise includes leadership development, relationship-building, accountability systems, and supporting student growth and achievement.

Prior to joining Argyle ISD, Dr. Carpenter served two years as Deputy Superintendent in Carroll ISD in Southlake, where she supervised and developed campus leadership and facilitated the district’s strategic planning process. She previously spent thirteen years at Midlothian ISD, serving as a campus principal before advancing to Director of Instructional Support, Executive Director of Innovation and Learning, Chief Administrative Officer, and Interim Superintendent of Schools.

Dr. Carpenter’s career in public education began as a classroom teacher, teaching mathematics to students in grades 3–11 for five years.

She has been married for 27 years to her husband, Craig Carpenter, a lifelong educator and former teacher and coach who currently serves as Director of Operations at Teague ISD. They have two grown children, Kelsey and Kasen.

Dr. Carpenter is a graduate of Sam Houston State University, holds a master’s degree in Educational Administration from the University of North Texas, and earned her doctorate in Educational Leadership from Dallas Baptist University.
