Transition Services
Amee Bowen is the Transition and Employment Designee for Argyle ISD. Transition services are focused on improving the academic and functional achievement of students with disabilities to facilitate movement from school to post-school activities. In Texas, a student’s admission, review, and dismissal (ARD) committee will discuss transition by his or her 14th birthday. Transition planning may begin earlier if appropriate. By age 16, the ARD committee will write post-secondary goals for the student’s life after high school. Goals are based on any further training or education needed in order for the student to work and live independently. The Texas Transition and Employment Guide, found below, is an important resource for understanding the transition process. Additional resources are also provided.
