ATTENTION
Students may be excused from outdoor activities in any weather condition with a note from their parent or doctor for a valid reason. Ensure immediate access to water when needed or requested.
Note that different grade levels might have recess at varying times depending on the day and fluctuating temperatures.
*AIR QUALITY
Argyle ISD monitors air quality conditions using the EPA AirNow system to ensure the safety and well-being of our students during outdoor activities, including recess. In the event of extremely hazardous air quality conditions (such as an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 301 or higher), principals may, at their discretion, cancel outdoor activities regardless of temperature.
During poor air quality conditions (AQI between 200 - 300), students may still participate in outdoor activities unless they have a health condition that makes them more sensitive to air quality. In such cases, only those students who have a health condition registered with the school nurse, as communicated by the parent or guardian, will be required to remain indoors.
It is the responsibility of the parents or guardians to notify the school nurse of any health concerns related to air quality and to ensure that the necessary health documentation is updated and on file.
Please note that the safety of all students is our top priority, and adjustments to outdoor activities will be made based on current conditions to ensure their well-being.
ATHLETICS & FINE ARTS
Argyle ISD's Athletics and Fine Arts Programs maintain their own policy and guidelines for outdoor practices and competitions, which may differ from the guidelines listed on this page.
Thank you for your efforts in keeping our students safe during all weather conditions!
