Separating Employees

Resignation/Termination

A payout calculation will be conducted on each resignation/termination received by the Payroll Department.  A payout calculation is estimated based on the employee’s last date to work, salary earned, less salary paid, and less docking for leave days not earned (if applicable).  Employees generally receive their final pay on the following pay date after work has been completed.  Employees resigning/terminating from the district should report their personal email address and current mailing address to the Human Resources department to ensure their final Wage and Earning Statement and W-2 are received.

Planning for Retirement

Planning ahead can help ensure a smooth transition into retirement.  Visit the TRS website Planning for Retirement page for information that will help you decide the right time for you to begin the retirement process and what retirement options are available to you.

Once you’ve made your decision, you should notify the Human Resources department and TRS.

Employees who retire from the district and submit a TRS 7 – Notice of Final Deposit Before Retirement and School Official Notification of Salaries to the human resources department will be paid out in the month of June.  Employees retiring from the district should report their personal email address and current mailing address to the human resources department to ensure their final Wage and Earning Statement and W-2 are received.

An employee who retires from the district may be eligible for payment for accumulated state and local leave under certain conditions.  Please see our local policy for details on Payment for Accumulated Leave Upon Retirement (DEC Local).
