Counseling Services

The Argyle Independent School District Counseling Department provides a comprehensive, developmental school counseling program implemented by certified Professional School Counselors at each campus, serving students in grades PK–12.

Argyle ISD utilizes the Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Programs (5th Edition) as its framework, in accordance with Texas Education Code §33.003–33.007 . The program reflects the defined roles and responsibilities of school counselors and is designed to support the whole child through academic achievement, personal development, and college and career readiness.

Program Components

The Argyle ISD school counseling program supports the educational, career, personal, and social development of all students in PK–12. The program includes four components aligned with the Texas Model: Guidance Curriculum, Individual Planning, Responsive Services, and System Support.

Guidance Curriculum

School counselors deliver classroom lessons that promote student growth in educational, career, personal, and social development. Lessons address four content areas: intrapersonal effectiveness, interpersonal effectiveness, postsecondary readiness, and personal health and safety.

Individual Planning

Counselors support students in planning, monitoring, and managing their development. This includes identifying strengths and interests and aligning them with academic and postsecondary goals.

Responsive Services

Counselors provide interventions for students experiencing challenges that impact academic, personal, social, or career development. Services may include brief counseling, consultation, and referrals to community resources.

System Support

System support includes program management and activities that ensure effective delivery of counseling services. These efforts indirectly support students by strengthening staff, programs, and operations.

Texas Model Content Areas

Argyle ISD covers these content areas through the guidance programming aligned with the Argyle ISD Skills for Learning (listed in the Argyle ISD Profile of a Graduate), the Texas Positive Character Trait TEKS (TEC §26.009), and the content areas mandated in the Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Programs.

Counselors plan, implement, evaluate, and advocate for the counseling program, organized through the four components defined in Texas Education Code (§33.005).

Consultation
