A little about me...
My name is Mrs. Lamb and teaching music is my happy place! I am so honored to be the music teacher at Argyle West Elementary. This will be my fourth year in Argyle, and my ninth year teaching elementary music. I grew up in Baltimore, then came to Denton to study Flute Performance and Music Education at the University of North Texas. While in Texas I met my husband, Nick, where we have two sons, two cats, and a dog named Kitty. I love camping, hiking, milk chocolate, and continually learning.
My philosophy to music is that every child is a musician. Though I have the privilege to be their music teacher for 6-7 years, musicality is at minimum a 30 year plan. In 30 years, can your child sing in tune at birthday parties and sing lullabies to their babies? In 30 years, can they clap along to the beat at a sporting event? In 30 years, can they dance at weddings and parties? In 30 years, can they be moved by nuances in music, or be expressive themselves in their songs or dancing? That is the ultimate goal.
I am certified in John Feierabend
's First Steps In Music, and Conversational Solfege, Level 1 and 2. First Steps in Music is designed for Pre-K through First to help fully develop tunefulness, beat-fulness, and artfulness. Conversational Solfege builds on that in additional grades, adding a layer of musical literacy with a sound before sight approach. I look forward to helping your child on their musical journey!
