About the Art Studio

Welcome to the A.I.S. Art Studio!

Hello! My name is Mrs. Tapia.  I've been teaching Art for over a decade.  I am a T.C.U. graduate—go, Frogs!

I’m looking forward to getting to know your child and beginning this semester!  If you ever have any questions, I am just an email away.

I can be reached at gtapia@argyleisd.com

This semester, students will work in Centers in the Art Studio.  We will work in the following Centers: Drawing, Collage, Painting, Clay, Sculpture, Weaving/Fiber Arts, Printmaking, Paper Engineering, Building and Architecture, Beading and Jewelry.

T.A.B.- A Choice-Based Approach to Art Education will allow me to focus on teaching students to THINK and become true ARTISTS.  Students will continue to learn about Art History, techniques, styles, etc., but it will be presented in a different format.  Our Art program at A.I.S. will help foster creativity, build self-confidence and help art students become self-motivated “problem solvers”.  In short, the “process” of making art will be emphasized.  The students will be encouraged to make creative choices and challenge themselves to become better artists.  We will display our best examples of our art which I call “W.O.W.”, which stands for Wonderful Original Work.  Most of the W.O.W. pieces will be saved for our annual Art Show during Open House.

Look for more information about T.A.B. coming soon to grade-level newsletters, emails and Instagram.  Until then, for more information on T.A.B., check out http://teachingforartisticbehavior.org/.
