The Covid-19 virus has changed everything we do on a day to day basis. Wearing a face mask and social distancing have become the temporary new normal. As an industry and department, we must make changes until we are given the all clear that the virus is no longer a threat. Due to this pandemic, the Transportation Department will be implementing the following guidelines. Some of the guidelines are set by the CDC and others put in place by the Argyle ISD in an attempt to keep our staff and students safe from this virus. The following guidelines will remain in place until the Governor and Argyle ISD School Board inform us that it is safe to return to normal pre Covid-19 operations.
The design of the school bus with the high padded seat backs, crumple zones, and compartmentalization features makes it nearly impossible to make any modifications to a school bus without approval and testing by various state and federal agencies. School buses are also not designed for social distancing. School buses are designed to carry 3 students in each seat and up to 78 passengers depending on the bus design. The Transportation Department routes buses to ensure we are utilizing this resource effectively.
Parents are strongly encouraged to transport their children to and from school on a daily basis. This will allow for students that need to utilize the school bus some additional spacing.
Thank you for your understanding as we navigate through this pandemic together.
Addendum: All Eagle students riding the school bus will be required to wear masks at all times. Due to space and close proximity of riders this safety measure is necessary. We also encourage parents to provide transportation for their children if possible. Bus riders will also be required to use hand sanitizer as they board the bus and it will be provided to all riders. Bus drivers will also be required to wear masks at all times.
