Argyle ISD,

As your school superintendent, I along with all Argyle ISD Board and administration remain committed to creating and maintaining a safe and secure learning environment for all students.  Please know students and their health and safety always come first in our decisions. We are managing the situation regarding COVID-19 with the students and our entire community in mind. As the situation changes we will stay in touch with you to provide timely and up to date information.  We are using local, state, and federal health authorities as sources of information.

Due to the March 11, 2020, announcement by the World Health Organization (WHO) that the outbreak of COVID-19 has been declared a pandemic, information from medical professionals and recommendations from state and federal health officials, the following action is being taken to minimize health and safety risks to Argyle students, faculty, staff, parents and community.  As a precaution we are closing the district next week. All AISD schools along with many area schools will remain closed Monday, March 16 through Friday, March 20.  Prior to reopening, we will assess the current climate and provide updates to everyone in the district.

By closing school, we hope to help flatten the curve of the pandemic and hopefully increase and allow more social distancing. During this school closure, all District offices will be closed and all District events and competitions that have been scheduled within the District during this timeframe will be considered canceled or postponed until further notice. We are taking this step out of an abundance of caution. We are not aware of any case of COVID - 19 in AISD or Denton County. These steps are being taken as prudent measures to protect the health of students and employees and their families.

Students will receive online instruction through their teachers. Campus principals will work with teachers to set up appropriate assignments while the students are out of the classrooms.

Take care of yourselves, your children, and your families. Practice the health protocols recommended:

  • Wash hands using soap for 20 seconds.
  • Use hand sanitizer.
  • Stop hand shaking; elbow bumping is an option.
  • Disinfect surfaces such as door knobs, tables, and handrails.
  • Increase ventilation.
  • Limit any food sharing.
  • Avoid large gatherings.
  • Use video conferencing when possible.
  • Cough into a tissue and throw tissue away.
  • Get tested if you have a cough and/or fever.

You will be contacted by your child’s teacher by Monday, March 16, with further instructions. We will have FAQ’s posted online along with constant updates and information. Please refer to the “Eagle News” section on the Argyle ISD website. Argyle ISD will distribute meals to students whose parents request them.
