Welcome Back, Eagles & RedHawks!

Dear Argyle ISD Families,

On Saturday, August 1, our community officially kicked off the new school year at our Soaring Back to School Bash, and what a wonderful way to begin another exciting year in Argyle ISD.

It was energizing to reconnect with so many returning families and to see the excitement building for the year ahead. It was equally heartwarming to welcome the many new families joining Argyle ISD. Throughout the morning, I had the opportunity to visit with parents who recently moved here from Pennsylvania, Florida, the United Kingdom, and many places in between. Their stories serve as another reminder that families continue to choose Argyle ISD for the outstanding educational opportunities, exceptional teachers, and strong sense of community that define our district.

We ended the last school year in May with 6,616 students. When our doors open this Tuesday, we expect to welcome approximately 6,800 Eagles and RedHawks to our campuses.

After a summer apart, our schools will once again be filled with the people who make Argyle ISD such a special place to learn, work, and serve.

For some families, summer brought opportunities to rest, recharge, travel, and celebrate milestones together. For others, it may have included unexpected challenges or seasons of change. Wherever this summer has found you, I hope you’ve experienced the care and support of those around you. We are genuinely excited to welcome every student and family back home.

Ready for Day One

As we prepare to begin another outstanding school year, I’m proud to share a few milestones that reflect the incredible work happening across our district. Together, we’ve built a culture of excellence that is worth protecting and strengthening as we continue serving our students, staff, and community.

• We are proud to open our newest campus, Scott Gibson Middle School. Named in honor of longtime educator and leader Scott Gibson, this campus stands as a lasting tribute to his unwavering commitment to students, educators, and public education. Each day, its halls will be filled with learning, relationships, service, and opportunity—ensuring that Mr. Gibson’s legacy continues to inspire future generations.

• With the opening of Scott Gibson Middle School, Argyle ISD welcomed more than 150 new teachers and staff—our largest-ever class of new hires.

• Although Argyle ISD continues to hire more employees each year due to our growth, the number of employees leaving our district has declined for the past two years. That isn’t something we take for granted. Investing in our people is critical to our district’s culture.

• We officially welcome Argyle ISD’s newest mascot—the Argyle Middle School RedHawks! It has been exciting to watch our community embrace the new mascot and school colors as we begin building the traditions that will continue with Legacy High School next fall.

Hands-On, Minds-On Learning: Back to the Basics, Forward in Learning

As part of our 5-Year Collaborative Vision Plan, our Learner Services team and campus leaders have spent the summer preparing to implement Hands-On, Minds-On Learning. These commitments reinforce a simple belief: technology should enhance learning—not replace meaningful instruction. This vision reflects our commitment to preparing students for the future while preserving the instructional practices that matter most.

To support this learning, Argyle ISD has prepared our Technology Commitments to the Community, which include Administrative Regulations for Board Policies CQC: Screen Time and CQD: Artificial Intelligence.

As a reminder, the Texas State Legislature passed HB 1481, Student Use of Personal Communication Devices and Cell Phones on School Property, which took effect during the 2025–2026 school year. This year, Argyle ISD will continue to enforce HB 1481 in all schools. For questions and information regarding HB 1481, please visit our website.

Investing in Our Students

This summer has also been one of the most significant periods of construction and capital improvements in the district’s history. Thanks to the continued support of our community through the 2022 and 2025 Bond Programs, tremendous progress has been made across Argyle ISD.

Highlights include:

• Bond 2022: Completion of Scott Gibson Middle School
• Bond 2022: Continued construction of Michael Ball Intermediate School—scheduled to open in August 2027
• Bond 2025: Completion of capital improvements at Hilltop Elementary School
• Bond 2025: Completion of Phase 1 capital improvements at the Argyle Middle School/Legacy High School 377 Campus
• Bond 2025: Continued construction of the Argyle High School baseball and softball complex at Canyon Falls—scheduled to open in January 2028
• Bond 2025: Continued planning and design for the future Argyle High School Connector Hallway—scheduled to open during the 2027–2028 school year
• Bond 2025: Continued planning and design for the future Argyle Middle School on Harpole Road—scheduled to open in August 2029
• New Argyle ISD branding on transportation vehicles, maintenance trucks, and district band trailers

While many of these projects happen behind the scenes, every investment shares the same purpose—creating exceptional learning environments where students and staff can thrive for years to come.

Great Schools Begin with Great People

Perhaps our greatest accomplishment isn’t found in a building project—it’s found in our people.

Not only are our classrooms fully staffed for the first day of school, but this summer also marks the largest class of new employees in district history. At the same time, Argyle ISD experienced the fewest teacher resignations in the past three years.

That is no accident.

It reflects our Board of Trustees’ continued commitment to investing in our employees, attracting outstanding educators, and creating a culture where talented people choose to stay. Just as importantly, it reflects the relationships our teachers, support staff, administrators, students, and families build together every day.

Great schools are built by great people, and we are incredibly fortunate to have the very best serving the students of Argyle ISD.

Planning for the Future

As our community continues to grow, so does our responsibility to thoughtfully prepare for what lies ahead.

Earlier this week, our Board of Trustees received the district’s first comprehensive demographic report from School District Strategies (SDS), Argyle ISD’s new demographic consulting firm. The report provides updated enrollment projections, residential growth trends, and long-range planning information to guide future decisions as we continue serving one of the fastest-growing communities in Texas.

Here’s to a Great Year

As my own children used to say while eagerly counting down to the first day of school, there are now just “two more sleeps.”

The anticipation is real, our classrooms are ready, and our teachers and staff are prepared. We cannot wait to welcome our students back!
