ARGYLE ISD REMAINS CLOSED WEDNESDAY, JAN 28, 2026 DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER
Christopher Sayler

Argyle ISD Families,

Argyle ISD schools will remain CLOSED on Wednesday, Jan. 28, due to continued icy conditions on roadways and campuses across the district.

All after-school activities for Wednesday are canceled, and campuses and facilities remain closed. Coaches and directors will communicate schedule updates.

District officials evaluated all campuses on Tuesday, and hazardous conditions remain with multiple inches of ice on sidewalks, parking lots, and entrances. Temperatures have not warmed sufficiently for melting to improve safety, and out of an abundance of caution, schools will remain closed to ensure the safety of students, staff, and families.

Our AISD Maintenance Department has worked diligently over the past two days to clear sidewalks and campus entrances, and we are very grateful for this difficult work. Campuses will be re-evaluated Wednesday, and an update on Thursday’s school status will be shared as soon as possible.

Please continue to stay safe and remind children to be especially cautious around icy conditions.

Thank you for your continued patience and support during this winter weather.

Snow Days Impact on School Calendar

Each year, Argyle ISD builds extra instructional minutes into the school calendar to account for possible weather-related school closures.

The 2025–2026 district calendar includes enough extra minutes to cover two missed school days, so students and staff will NOT need to make up school for closures on Monday, Jan. 26, and Tuesday, Jan. 27.

Since AISD will be closed for three days, including Wednesday, Jan. 28, the district will request a Missed School Day Waiver from the Texas Education Agency (TEA). If approved, those additional days would not need to be made up.
