ARGYLE ISD REMAINS CLOSED THURSDAY, JAN 29, 2026 DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER
Christopher Sayler

Argyle ISD Families & Staff,

Argyle ISD schools will remain CLOSED on Thursday, Jan. 29 due to continued hazardous road and campus conditions across the district.

All after-school activities for Thursday are canceled, and campuses and facilities remain closed.

District officials re-evaluated campus conditions on Wednesday and determined that insufficient snow and ice had melted, leaving schools unsafe to open. While major roads and highways have improved, smaller neighborhood streets, parking lots, and campus driveways remain dangerous, posing potential risks to students, staff, and families.

Thursday’s extended period of above-freezing temperatures and sunlight should continue to improve conditions. The AISD Maintenance Department will continue clearing walkways, school entrances, and the transportation building for buses. District officials will re-evaluate conditions on Thursday.

Please continue to stay safe, and remind your children to be cautious of icy conditions.

Thank you for your patience throughout this prolonged winter weather event.

Snow Days Impact on School Calendar

Each year, Argyle ISD builds extra instructional minutes into the school calendar to account for possible weather-related closures.

The 2025-2026 district calendar includes enough extra minutes to cover two missed school days, so students and staff will NOT need to make up school for the closures on Monday, Jan. 26, and Tuesday, Jan. 27.

Since AISD will be closed for four days, including Thursday, Jan. 29, Argyle ISD will request a Missed School Days Waiver from the Texas Education Agency (TEA). If approved, those additional days would also not need to be made up.
