ARGYLE ISD REMAINS CLOSED FRIDAY, JAN 30, 2026 DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER CONDITIONS
Christopher Sayler

Argyle ISD Families & Staff,

After extensively evaluating campus conditions and driving roads across the district late this afternoon, we have decided that Argyle ISD schools will remain CLOSED on Friday, Jan. 30.

While conditions improved and temperatures helped melt ice in our area, hazardous conditions remain on neighborhood roads, secondary streets, parking lots, and walkways. These areas have not improved at a rate that allows us to safely operate buses or ensure safe travel for students and staff, particularly with an overnight freeze expected.

AISD buses rely heavily on neighborhood and secondary roads for student pickup and drop-off, many of which still have significant slush and ice. We also considered the safety of student drivers and staff members who commute from neighboring towns.

This has been an unusually disruptive week, with weather conditions never improving enough to ensure safe operations. As always, the safety of our students, staff, and families is our top priority, and this decision was made out of an abundance of caution. We appreciate your patience as we prepare to return to school on Monday.

All after-school activities for Friday have been canceled district-wide. Limited UIL varsity games and practices may proceed under specific conditions.

Please enjoy the weekend and continue to stay safe and warm. We look forward to welcoming students, staff, and families back on campus Monday.

Five Snow Days Impact on School Calendar

Each year, Argyle ISD builds extra instructional minutes into the school calendar to account for weather-related closures.

The 2025–2026 district calendar includes enough minutes to cover two missed school days, so students and staff will NOT need to make up school for closures on Monday and Tuesday this week.

Because AISD will be closed for five days, including Friday, Jan. 30, the district will request a Missed School Days Waiver from the Texas Education Agency (TEA). If approved, the remaining days will not need to be made up.
