Argyle ISD Receives 23rd Consecutive "A" Rating for Financial Accountability
Christopher Sayler

Argyle ISD has received special recognition for the 23rd consecutive year from the Texas Education Agency (TEA) for its financial stewardship.

The district earned an “A” for Superior Achievement under the Texas’ FIRST Financial Accountability Rating System. This rating is the state’s highest, demonstrating the quality of AISD’s financial management and reporting system over the past two decades.

Argyle ISD Chief Financial Officer Liz Stewart presented the FIRST Report for the 2024-2025 school year to the Board of Trustees during the regular Board meeting on Monday, Nov. 17, 2025.

The Texas Education Agency assigns one of four financial accountability ratings to Texas school districts: A for Superior Achievement, B for Above Standard Achievement, C for Standard Achievement, and F for Substandard Achievement.

The evaluation covers 21 indicators of financial health, including administrative cost ratios, the accuracy of financial information submitted to the state, and the district's ability to meet its financial obligations. The district scored 96 out of 100 (Superior Achievement 90-100).

The primary goal of School FIRST is to achieve quality performance in the management of school districts’ financial resources, a goal made more significant due to the complexity of accounting associated with Texas’ school finance system.
