Three members of the Argyle ISD Police Department were honored Aug. 7 as graduates of the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) School-Based Law Enforcement (SBLE) Master Training Class #8. The Texas School Safety Center (TxSSC) held the graduation ceremony in San Marcos, Texas.

Argyle ISD Police Chief Eli Davis, Hilltop Elementary Officer Gilbert Velo, and Argyle Middle School Officer Paul Inman are among the newest SBLE Master Training graduates. Argyle ISD Superintendent Dr. Courtney Carpenter and Deputy Superintendent Dr. Chris Daniel attended the graduation to support the officers and recognize their achievement.

The Master Training is the capstone of the TxSSC's summer SBLE training series, which consists of four 32-hour trainings totaling 128 hours accredited by TCOLE. Participants must complete the Introductory, Intermediate and Advanced training before attending the Master Training.

The training prepares participants to be leaders in Texas school-based law enforcement, with an emphasis on best practices and evidence-based policing models that improve safety and security for the schools and communities they serve.

Throughout the training series, participants engage with a wide range of topics, including youth mental health, adolescent brain development, suicide prevention, restorative justice, bullying and cyberbullying, gang awareness, social media investigations, strategic planning and effective leadership strategies.
