Argyle ISD Names Coby Pelt Next Principal of Argyle Middle School
Christopher Sayler

Argyle ISD has named Coby Pelt as the next principal of Argyle Middle School.

Pelt has served as an assistant principal at Argyle Middle School since 2022 and was recently appointed Assistant Principal at the new Scott Gibson Middle School. He brings a decade of experience at AMS and is a dynamic instructional leader with a strong record of fostering high-performing, student-centered campus culture focused on academic excellence and student success.

Pelt replaces Dona Lumsden, who has been appointed the new Argyle High School Principal.

“We are excited to welcome Mr. Pelt as the new principal of AMS,” Argyle ISD Superintendent Dr. Courtney Carpenter said. “He has a strong history of excellence in Argyle ISD as both a teacher and assistant principal and has a deep understanding of our culture, expectations, and commitment to student success.”

Pelt’s professional growth and journey in public education is a full-circle story in AISD, having served as a student teacher at AMS before becoming a full-time teacher in 2016, then Assistant Principal. He brings that perspective into this new role, focusing on supporting teachers, helping students grow, and continuing Argyle ISD's strong tradition of excellence.

“I am deeply grateful and honored to have the opportunity to serve as the next principal of Argyle Middle School,” Pelt said. “Having been part of the AMS family for the past 10 years, I have developed a deep appreciation for the relationships and tradition of excellence that define this campus. I look forward to continuing to support our students and staff, partnering with families, and serving this outstanding community as we work together to help every learner thrive.”
