Will the 377 high school campus open with all four high school grade levels?
No. In August 2027, the 377 High School will open with freshmen and sophomore classes and possibly a partial junior class if a “junior option” is determined viable. As these students progress, upper grade levels will be established. The 377 High School is slated to host all four high school grade levels in the 2029-30 school year. If a “junior option” is allowed, the campus will have all four grade levels in 2028-29.
Will students be able to choose which campus they attend?
Students must attend the high school campus for which their home is zoned except for those in specific grade levels outlined in local board policy during the time in which a new campus is opened. Outside of this exception, no students will be given the option to attend the high school campus outside of their home zone.
What is the plan to separate younger students (12-year-olds) from older students (18-year-olds) at the 377 campus when it serves both middle and high school grades?
The 377 campus was originally a campus that served 7-12th graders for several years, including sixth graders at one point. Therefore, in its design and layout, it provides measures that allow the administration to successfully serve students in those grade levels. The district and campus administration will always have student safety as a priority and as the campus prepares to open as a combination site in 2027-28, the campus administration in place will have those procedures and practices well defined and communicated to students, parents, and all staff.
Will the sixth-grade center continue to serve only sixth-grade students after the new middle school is added?
When will the new middle school open?
The new middle school being built on FM 407 will open in 2026. With the timing of opening that campus, the district will transition to two middle schools and we will have 7-8th at both the new 407 campus and some at the 377 campus. The new 407 MS campus will have a capacity of 1,200 and we would reach that (based on enrollment projections) within one year if all 7-8th graders attended there. Therefore, we will transition to 2 MS at that time.
Which middle school will the Sixth Grade Center be paired with?
There is no current bond for a second newly constructed middle school. Therefore, that will delay some 6th graders from moving out of SGC. We cannot move any 6th graders out of SGC until a MS 2 is passed in a bond and constructed. The necessary timeline for a newly constructed MS 2 is needed to open by 2029. Once a newly constructed MS 2 opens and those zoned 6th graders move to that campus, the current SGC will be paired directly with the 407 MS.
When will attendance zoning occur for the transition to two middle and two high schools?
Will the boundaries for other Argyle ISD campuses change?
Eventually, yes, but not right now. Any time a new campus opens, the district must update boundaries to incorporate the new campus attendance zone. The district intends to open a fifth elementary school in 2027. Boundaries will be updated as necessary to accommodate those new builds and any changes in demography projected enrollments.
How is my student impacted by the transition to two middle schools/high schools?
How will transitioning to two high schools in 2027-28 affect current 8th and 9th graders? Will they be separated from friends and teammates?
The classes of 2028 (current 9th graders) and 2029 (current 8th graders) will complete their junior and senior years together at the current AHS campus and won’t be impacted by the new high school opening. It is yet to be determined if the Class of 2029 (current 8th graders) might have a “one-time option” to attend the 377 if zoned there.
The new high school is slated to open in 2027-28 with 9th graders (current 6th graders) and 10th graders (current 7th graders), adding a junior class in 2028-29 and its first senior class in 2029-30. Attendance zones for the new two-high-school setup will be proposed in November 2024.
Is there enough land at the Canyon Falls campus to build a 9th Grade Center? If not, why not?
There is not enough available buildable acreage in Canyon Falls to construct a 9th Grade Center. A 9th Grade Center would require an estimated 12 acres at the minimum. That amount is not available in Canyon Falls. We are currently constructing the new AISD Stadium and Indoor Activity Center and additional space is needed for competition baseball and softball fields. Additionally, a 9th grade only would not be a long-term solution because by 2030 the number of 10-12th graders would exceed the capacity of AHS at Canyon Falls.

Which high school campus will be the Argyle Eagles? Will both high schools have the Eagles mascot?
Will the elementary and middle schools have their own mascot?
How will the district ensure that both high schools maintain a strong sense of school spirit and community?
How will the district ensure equal distribution of resources, staff, academic programs, and extracurricular activities between the two middle schools and two high schools?
Coach Rodgers and Mr. Bird are already preparing for extracurricular programs at the second high school and second middle school. The academic and other extracurricular offerings will be based on student course requests. Once student requests have been completed, campus principals will hire for the positions. Campus budgets will include funds for the necessary resources and curriculum.
What UIL classification will the 377 High School have upon opening?
Because classification enrollment numbers are updated annually by UIL, and Argyle ISD’s future enrollment numbers are projections, there is no way to guarantee the 377 High School’s classification. However, based on the estimates available at this time, the district anticipates that the 377 High School will open as a large 3A or small 4A campus until all four grade levels are established.
Will the opening of the 377 High School change the classification of the current Argyle High School?
Because classification enrollment numbers are updated annually by UIL, and Argyle ISD’s future enrollment numbers are projections, there is no way to guarantee Argyle High School’s classification following the opening of the 377 High School. However, based on the estimates available at this time, the district anticipates that ArgyleHigh School will remain a 5A campus for the foreseeable future.
What extracurricular activities and electives will be available to the 377 High School students?
The ultimate goal is for both AISD high schools to offer all of the same activities and electives, although this may take time to facilitate. So as not to prevent any student from pursuing curricular opportunities and interests, the district will work to ensure that the 377 High School students have immediate access to the available high school courses and electives, even if that means permitting students to attend certain classes at Argyle High School for the time being. This is a practice other districts use during the transitions to multiple high school campuses.
What competition levels will be available to the 377 High School students?
- FINE ARTS - Students will compete at the highest level available starting in 2027-28 when the 377 campus opens as a high school.
- BAND - Students will compete at the highest level available starting in 2027-28 when the 377 campus opens as a high school.
- UIL ACADEMICS - Students will compete at the highest level available starting in 2027-28 when the 377 campus opens as a high school.
- ATHLETICS - Athletic competition is based on UIL alignment. Football district alignment is updated every two years, other sports annually.
- FOOTBALL - The 377 High School will open in 2027 with 9th and 10th graders. Varsity competition begins in 2028-29 after UIL football district realignment.
- ALL OTHER SPORTS PROGRAMS - These programs will compete at sub-varsity and varsity levels starting in 2027-28, depending on participation numbers.

When will the staff be hired and can current staff and teachers transfer to the new 377 Campus High School?
Will the district hire new teachers for the new high school, or will existing teachers be transferred?
How will class sizes be managed at the new high school?
How will the district ensure a smooth transition for students who will move to the new high school?
The district will collaborate with students, parents and staff to make sure 377 Campus High School starts strong and is a great experience for our students. Like AHS, the 377 campus HS will have orientation programs, student mentoring and support services to help students adjust to the new high school environment.
What is the projected number of FTE teachers and aides we could employ if we do not add a second high school in 2027, compared to one?
From a preliminary planning perspective, general education teacher FTEs can be projected using enrollment estimates and a set class size ratio. For 2027-28, if two high schools are implemented with 7-period day schedules, then the district is able to use a district multiplier of 1.16 to determine teaching FTEs.
If the current high school campus exceeds capacity as projected by 2027, 9th graders would need to be relocated, requiring a block schedule at the main campus. This would necessitate a multiplier of 1.33 to determine teaching FTEs for a block schedule to accommodate the additional enrollment split.
Aides (paras) are allocated based on individual student needs and specialized education plans, and current projections do not include specifics for paraprofessionals.
Please note these projections are preliminary and may adjust with demographic and enrollment shifts.
