Argyle ISD has been experiencing rapid growth in both student enrollment and development within our community.Since 2013, numerous developments and master-planned communities have emerged, and as they continue to expand, they have successfully capitalized on the values and reputation of AISD. As a result, these developments have priced homes higher than those in surrounding districts, further cementing the area's appeal.

Student Growth & Enrollment Trends

Since 2019, AISD has seen an impressive 76% increase in student enrollment. To accommodate this growth, the district has taken significant steps, including:

Splitting the original 7-12 campus on Hwy 377 into two separate campuses: Argyle Middle School and Argyle High School.
Adding 3 new elementary schools to meet demand.
Repurposing Argyle Intermediate School as a 6th Grade campus.

As development continues, projections show AISD's student population will reach approximately 11,000 students within the next 10 years, with nearly 4,000 high school students. This marks a projected 300% increase in enrollment since 2018.

Strategic Growth & Facilities Plan

To stay ahead of this accelerated growth, AISD voters approved a bond in 2022 to support the expansion of facilities, including:

Two new elementary schools (bringing the total to five by 2027).
One new middle school.
An on-site stadium and indoor activity center at Argyle High School in Canyon Falls.

This expansion will ensure the district has sufficient capacity across all grade levels, while maintaining the infrastructure needed for success in academics, fine arts, athletics, and extracurricular activities.

In January 2023, the Board of Trustees adopted a Strategic Growth Plan to address future needs, emphasizing the importance of creating capacity while preserving the district’s core values.

Growth Strategies & Priorities

To manage growth efficiently, AISD is prioritizing:

Maximizing the use of existing facilities, including repurposing former Argyle Intermediate School into a 6th Grade Center.
Actively seeking land for future campuses and facilities.
Securing land for 1 future elementary school and 1 future middle school.
Planning for future secondary school needs with two high school campuses at Canyon Falls and US 377.

Campus Growth Planning

High School Configuration: AISD plans for multiple high school campuses to avoid overcrowding at a single campus. This model:

Creates more opportunities for students to participate in extracurriculars.
Ensures stronger student-teacher relationships.
Reduces congestion and improves safety.
Maintains the district’s commitment to student success and values.

Middle School Configuration: AISD will maintain a 1,200 student capacity for middle schools, with one middle school paired with the 6th Grade Center.

Elementary School Configuration: Elementary schools will have a capacity of 850 students.

Bond Overview

Bond 2017:

Opened Argyle West Elementary and Argyle South Elementary.
Began Phase 2 of Canyon Falls High School.
Repurposed AIS into a Sixth Grade Center.
Constructed a new AISD Administration Building.
Renovated Transportation & Maintenance Facilities.

Bond 2022

Opened Jane Ruestmann Elementary.
Elementary #5 opening in Fall 2027.
New Middle School opening in Fall 2026.
Stadium at AHS and Indoor Activity Center (IAC) opening in Fall 2025.

Bond 2024

Proposition A and Proposition B both failed.
Proposition C passed for 1:1 technology.

Bond 2025

The Bond 2024 Committee will reconvene in January 2025 to present a bond recommendation.

Strategic Growth & Facilities Considerations

AISD and the Board of Trustees regularly review growth projections, collaborating with demographers and financial advisors to adjust plans as needed. This includes:

Semi-annual reviews of growth outlook.
Continual examination of bonding capacity.
Ongoing collaboration with local municipalities.

Future Considerations

Elementary:

Current capacity: 3,300 students.
ES 5 to open in 2027/28.
ES 6 needed by 2029/30.

Middle School:

Current capacity: 1,300 students in 7th and 8th grades, and 730 in 6th grade.
MS 1 opens in 2026/27.
MS 2 is needed by 2029/30.
Total middle school capacity to reach 2,719 students by 2034/35.

High School:

Current capacity: 3,400 seats (2,100 at Canyon Falls HS, 1,300 at US 377 HS).
Canyon Falls will exceed capacity in 2027/28.
Two high school campuses needed by 2027/28.
District will exceed high school capacity in 2032/33.
