College Admission Testing

Texas Success Initiative (TSI) – the TSI Assessment is a tool designed in determining student readiness for college-level course work in the areas of reading, writing, and mathematics.  All incoming college students attending higher education in the state of Texas are required to take the TSI Assessment, unless exempt via an alternate approved method such as PSAT, SAT, or ACT scores.

SAT and ACT
The optimal time to take the SAT and ACT exams is in the spring of your junior year.  We encourage students to take both tests to get a baseline score.  At that point, if you have a test preference, concentrate on preparing to take that particular test again and re-take to possibly improve your score.  If you choose to retake your exams, you need to take them early in the fall of your senior year to ensure scores are processed and reach your prospective schools before the application deadlines.  You will need to send your scores to your prospective schools directly from the testing agency.
