Pre-Kindergarten FAQs

  • What is the age qualification for Pre-Kindergarten?
To attend Pre-K, children must be four years old by September 1st of the school year in which they are applying. There are no exceptions to this requirement.

What are the times for Pre-Kindergarten?
    Pre-K is a full-day program from 7:20 a.m. - 2:50 p.m. five days a week.

We don't live in Argyle ISD. Can we transfer from another district?
No. We do not take out of district transfers for Pre-Kindergarten.

Is there a school supply list for Pre-Kindergarten?
Yes, there are designated supplies for Pre-Kindergarten. You can find the school supply list on the Argyle West homepage.

    Is transportation available?
Pre-K students living in the school district may ride the bus to and from school if their home is zoned for bus services. AISD Transportation requires that all students in Pre-K have a legal guardian, parent, or sibling (4th grade or older) at the bus stop to receive them off the bus.

Does attendance really count in Pre-Kindergarten?
Yes, it does. To receive the full benefit of the Prekindergarten program your child needs to be here every day for their class. Once you have enrolled your child in school they are expected to attend and fall under Compulsory Attendance Law.  Please refer to the Argyle West Student Handbook.

When can I register my child for State-Funded Pre-K?
Please see the State-Funded page to find out how to qualify. Once your student is qualified, then online registration opens on Monday, May 3.

When can I register my child for Tuition-Based Pre-K?
Please see the Tuition-Based Pre-K page to sign up for the lottery. We will draw the lottery during the 2nd week in August. Parents will be notified on the day of the lottery drawing, of their position by 5 p.m.

What if I do not have the necessary paperwork?
Please refer to the Documentation For Pre-K page for a list of required documentation.  We will need all information before we can complete the registration and place your child in a class.
