How do I find the type of book I want to read at Hilltop Library?
There are 3 main areas:
Fiction – Chapter stories about made-up people or situations. These are shelved by Genre in ABC order by the author’s last name, and run along the back wall under the big red “FICTION” sign.
Easy Fiction – Picture and storybooks labeled “E” for “Easy” or “Everyone”, that everyone can enjoy. These shelves surround the reading area near the back windows. They are also in ABC order by the author’s last name.
Non Fiction – Books of factual information on many subjects. These are in the middle of the library. They are sorted by Dewey Decimal System numbers and then ABC by the author’s last name (or the subject’s name in biography). Learn more about the Dewey number system in the next link.
Holiday books are in the case by the Easy Section Story Area.
Special Award and Special Collection books are located on the shelf just as you enter the Library.
