Shelver! Online Library Shelver Game

Books in the Library are Shelved in 2 Different Ways:

1) Alphabetical Order by the first three letters of the author's last name in
the Easy and Fiction sections. *NOTE: We recently placed all Fiction Books in
Different Genre sections, like "Mystery" and "Adventure".  The books are
alphabetized by the first three letters of the Author's last name within that
Genre.

Example:  The Call # for the book entitled Tales of Fourth Grade Nothing by
Judy Blume is "FIC  BLU" and this book is in the Humor section.  The "FIC"
means this book is located in the Fiction Section, and the "BLU" stands for
the first three letters of the author's last name, Blume.  You will find this
book in the Humor Fiction section with the books that start with "B" on the
spine label.

2)  Number Order (Dewey) in the Non-Fiction section.  Each non-fiction
subject is assigned a specific Dewey number so that all the books about
a particular subject are grouped together on the shelf.

Example:  Books about Football have the Dewey number 796.332To find
informational books about football, you would look for the books in the 700's
section and go in order until you have reached the number 796.332.

Try your hand at "shelving" books in either ABC Order for Fiction / Easy
books OR in Number Order (Dewey) for Non-Fiction books.  Click here
